“The gap doesn’t close itself. Someone has to step in.”
“We are teachers, mentors, creatives, professionals, and community members who refused to accept that the next generation had to figure it out alone.”
We are not one person. We are not a building or a logo. We are everyone who chose to show up. The mentor who arrives every Saturday. The corporate that sends their team. The neighbour who notices. The professional who shares their story. The parent who prays.
One6Teen Foundation is a registered South African nonprofit (NPC K2026049908) operating in Silver Lakes, Pretoria — but the movement is bigger than any address. Every time someone new steps in, One6Teen grows.
ROMANS 1:16 · UNASHAMED · A MOVEMENT IN MOTION
We are building toward a South Africa where no young person — boy or girl — has to wonder if they matter. Where presence is restored in the places it has been absent for far too long.
By connecting young people with leaders who show up consistently, intentionally, and for the long haul — through mentorship, performing arts, community, and faith.
Young people across South Africa are growing up without a consistent, trusted adult in their corner. Not just at home — in every area of life. The gap is real, wide, and it repeats.
A generation of young people is growing up without someone who shows up for them. Not just at home. In every area of life. The gap is real, wide, and it repeats from one generation to the next.
No presence leads to no identity. No identity leads to no direction. No direction leads to broken behaviour — at school, at home, in communities. And those same young people become parents who were never shown how.
Poverty is real and resources matter. But young people who have everything can still feel completely alone. What they are missing is not a programme. It is a person who shows up, stays, and says: you matter.
Each number below is not a statistic. It is a person.
One6Teen exists because we refuse to accept that the next generation has to figure it out alone.
This is the pattern One6Teen was built to interrupt — not by throwing resources at it, but by stepping in with people who stay.
No father. No mentor. No consistent adult. The young person grows up invisible to the people who should matter most.
Without someone to speak into their life, young people don’t know who they are or why they matter.
No identity means no purpose. Discipline breaks down. Potential is buried. Behaviour deteriorates.
They become parents and leaders who were never shown how. The cycle begins again in the next generation.
Every programme, every circle, every session comes back to the same thing: a consistent adult in a young person’s life.
Screened, trained mentors who commit to showing up week after week — consistent adults who genuinely care and stay for the long haul.
Drama, music, and movement unlock identity and build confidence. We give young people a voice they didn’t know they had.
Circles where young people are known by name, missed when absent, and experience what it truly means to belong.
Rooted in Romans 1:16. Faith gives young people an anchor for identity, hope, and a reason to rise above their circumstances.
One6Teen is not one person. It is everyone who chose to step in. When you show up — you are One6Teen. Choose how you want to be part of this.
The most valuable thing your company has is people. Send your team to mentor. Bring your professionals into the room with young people who have never seen themselves in a boardroom.
Not your title — your presence. Your story. The fact that you made it through something and you’re willing to say: you can too. We will train you. You just have to say yes.
Parents, teachers, neighbours, faith leaders — everyone who has ever said “someone should do something” is invited to be that someone. Come as you are.
Host a circle, mentor or tutor, donate instruments, open your space, or partner corporately. Every contribution builds the same movement.
